The gas cylinders that come with these hood struts are designed to work with the Ford Maverick OE hood and are manufactured with their weight in mind. However, you can still add hood struts to an aftermarket hood. Just call us at 734-455-5807 and give us the replacement hood's weight; we'll determine the appropriate gas cylinder size. Received kit and was very happy with the fit and finish. Instructions were well laid out and accurate. First item I have bought for my Maverick that fit without having to monkey around with it including OEM items.  Will be buying my exhaust from MRT

So I get the package with all the parts in it.  It includes a 4 x 6 piece of paper that states 'Scan QR Code Before Installing', which I did.  So it takes me to TikTok.  WTF  I had to type in the link to the instructions on how to install the struts.  I was not impressed...................The video was good, but you will understand better if you scroll down and read the written instructions which are more complete.  In the video some things are missed.  In step 3 you use 3 washers, but that is not clear in the video unless you have very good eyes since the man does not say install all 3 washers.........................It is best to watch the video and read the instructions at the same time..................Once I had the struts installed, and it was not hard, we tried them out.  They work GREAT.  Hood goes up perfectly.  Maybe an import would do the same thing, but I would rather support an American worker.  Thank you MRT.

These arrived fast and in great shape.  Install was relatively easy, and aside from having to remove the struts once because I installed them upside down, it went pretty smooth.  no matter how I adjust the passenger side strut though, it rests on the wiper fluid cap.  hoping this won't lead to leaks.

I think that the struts add a little class to the truck.  I understand that gas struts can fail over time but it looks cleaner without having to use the prop rod.  They were easy to install since the directions were easy to follow.  There was one video that I watched on YouTube where it seemed like the installer didn’t even read the directions.
