How to install an Explorer exhaust?
To install a Ford Explorer axle-back exhaust, start by removing the stock exhaust system from the Explorer (see below for instructions). Then slide a band clamp onto the tailpipe and maneuver your new MRT exhaust into position over the factory exhaust pipes. Insert the hanger into the new exhaust and align the tip to the rear fascia opening. Finish by positioning and tightening the clamps.
How to remove a Ford Explorer exhaust?
You can remove an Explorer factory exhaust system by cutting the exhaust tube in two places, which allows you to remove the stock mufflers. One cut should be at the beginning of the factory tube bend on the driver's side. The second cut is at the same position on the passenger side.
How to fix a Ford Explorer exhaust leak?
There are several ways to fix an exhaust leak in a Ford Explorer. Smaller holes can often be sealed with an epoxy bond, exhaust tape wrap, an exhaust clamp or an aluminum patch. If the leak is coming from the manifold or a joint, it could be a simple matter of changing the gasket. For larger holes or breaks, you may to need to remove that pipe section and weld a new section in its place.
Can you put dual exhausts on a Ford Explorer?
You can install dual exhausts on the Ford Explorer as an aftermarket system. There are many aftermarket dual exhaust systems, such as the Explorer ST MRT Extreme Cat-Back, but it should be noted that it's difficult to put a "true dual" exhaust on Explorer vehicles. This is because true dual systems require a separate exit on each head and exhaust manifold. One can bend pipes to get around the chassis and drivetrain, but it will take some serious time and patience.
How to adjust Explorer aftermarket exhaust tip position?
There are two ways to adjust your Ford Explorer exhaust tips. One is by manipulating each assembly in and out of the connection points. The second is to rotate the exhaust tube throughout the exhaust system.
