WRX and STI Exhaust Kits
The Subaru WRX has been a compact sport leader for decades, and our selection reflects the many models still found on the road. We carry exhaust systems for the original standard Subaru Impreza WRX, the WRX STI sport model and the WRX VA series that first rolled out in 2015. There are separate designs for sedan and hatchback models - and we also have no-cat Subaru exhaust systems for owners whose sole focus are track days and competitions. Whatever generation of WRX you proudly drive, MRT has an exhaust kit that's a perfect fit.
Premium Sound and Performance
Experienced automotive engineers design every MRT Subaru WRX STI exhaust so it becomes part of the vehicle's DNA. We have cat-back and turbo-back WRX exhausts that are made of T304 stainless steel. The Street Race Cat-Back Subaru WRX Exhaust is the ultimate "happy medium" with a refined growl and strong horsepower boost that's street-legal in most states. Sport Touring exhausts are neighborhood-friendly while Extreme systems throw aside the restrictions in favor of a mighty roar.
For maximum exhaust flow and power gains, go with the No-Cats Turbo-Back WRX Performance Exhaust. It's a complete upgrade for track days, competition and private roads that will give anyone a jolt. Cat-back exhausts generate more sound while generally being less expensive and easier to install. Choose your new system based on what performance boost - power or sound - is more important to you and when your budget is.
MRT also sells replacement exhaust pipes that further modify the sound based on whether you prefer muscle car, turbo or sophisticated sport decibels in your eardrums. Subaru WRX Sport Touring Intermediate Pipe raises the decibels and adds depth while Street Race J-pipes make the stock cat-back more aggressive for off-road use. We also offer the JMS PedalMax; this WRX throttle controller increases response so the vehicle goes when you step on it. With so many performance solutions, we offer something that's right for where and how you drive.
Beauty You Can Hear and Feel
Since 2003, MRT has been a leader in handcrafted exhaust systems. We do all our Subaru WRX exhaust design, engineering and manufacturing just down the road from Detroit. They're made for DIYers with bolt-on installation and no tuning necessary - we already did that for you! Each system also has a limited lifetime warranty that shows our commitment to quality. Subaru WRX FAQs
Should a Subaru exhaust be upgraded?
Change the exhaust! This mod is simple to do and gives you power and performance. The idea behind a performance exhaust mod is to remove airflow restrictions; most aftermarket exhausts are also are lighter than stock exhausts. Increasing air flow and removing weight boosts engine efficiency, which results in performance gains and better fuel mileage. As a bonus, upgrading the exhaust will let you hear more of the WRX Turbocharged 2.5L engine sounds!
Can I use a WRX exhaust on my Subaru Forester?
Subaru WRXs have dual outlet exhaust tips (commonly referred to as "quad tips") and mufflers, so the cutout space in the bumper is not the same. If you want to install a Subaru WRX exhaust on a Forester, you will have to increase the cutout and trim the bumper.
What exhaust gives the best sound?
A cat-back exhaust provides the best sound. These are full exhaust systems from the catalytic converter to the exhaust tips at the back of your car and include the muffler or resonator. On the Subaru WRX, a cat-back exhaust gives you a deep-sounding exhaust note. When you rev your engine and release the throttle, you'll hear the crackle and pop of the turbocharged engine.
