ENGINEER + ENTHUSIAST = EXCITEMENT as told by Scott T. Hoag and written by Anthony S. Alonso, relates the journey taken to bring two special edition models to market for the last “hurrah” of the SN-95 Mustang line. From concept car to production model, the 2001 Bullitt started production in spring 2001, an astounding 14 months after being displayed as a concept at the 2000 Los Angeles Auto Show. The 2003/04 Mach 1 was planned while the Bullitt was still in development and released in late 2002. Scott’s passion, fueled by his long-time enthusiast focus and his engineering know-how within the Ford Motor Company system, resulted in two well-received vehicles. Each car was a look back and celebration of the heritage of a well-known movie car from 1968 and optional model from 1969/70.

Scott reminisces with the reader in his subtle but humorous style, providing a first-hand account of what it took to shepherd two special Mustangs to market. He tells the tale of working at Ford Motor Company and employing a careful balance of teamwork, dedication and vision. The fruits of that labor were for those among the most dedicated of Ford’s customers – the performance car enthusiast. The 2001 Bullitt inspired the making of the 2008/09 and 2019 editions. Scott also reflects on those versions and the possibilities of future feature cars.

Yup I was lucky enough to get my car on the cover and I didn't have to pay anyone... lol The cover photo was taken at Lake Nockamixon in Pennsylvania. I enjoyed driving to the lake with my 2 sons who happened to be seated in the car when I was taking the photo. It was about an hour ride each way from my house to the lake. This is the Lake that we also had as a starting point for the Covered Bridge cruise we put together back in the mid 2000's. Chances are this photo was taken during one of my recon runs. Behind Scott Hoag's photo is actually a sail boat that's covered by his photo. Today my sons no longer fit in the back seat and are now driving the Mach 1. I was the first and now the fifth owner of the car. I traded the Mach 1 in on a 2011 GT500 in 2010 bought it back In March of 2017. It was sold with 38,000 miles on it and I bought it back 7 years later with 110,000 miles.
