Unleash the true voice of your 2013–2020 Toyota 86 with MRT’s premium lineup of exhaust systems. Built with precision, performance, and durability in mind, these systems use T304 stainless steeland are engineered to match form, function, and sound. Whether you’re after a bold growl, controlled tone, or full header-back flow, MRT offers reliable options that install cleanly and perform well.
From daily driving to spirited canyon carving, these exhausts let your 86 speak with authority — without overwhelming cabin drone when cruising.
Below are the four MRT exhaust options available for the 86:
From the full Extreme Header-Back down to the Sport Touring Axle Back, MRT offers options to suit your sound goals. The header-back gives the loudest, most free-flowing experience. The Sport Touring strikes a balance of refinement and aggression. The Street Race Single Exit leans toward the bold side without excessive overtones.
All MRT 86 exhausts use premium T304 stainless steel, which resists corrosion, heat cycling, and road elements better than lower-grade metals.
These systems are designed with bolt-on compatibility, using factory hangers and supplied hardware. Most installations take between 1 to 3 hours for experienced DIYers.
While the Exhaust options push sound boundaries, MRT keeps drone management in mind — especially in the Sport Touring or single-exit builds — so the inside of your 86 remains livable on highways and in daily driving.
Generally, no, but it can improve the performance of these off-road or race-only exhaust upgrades. MRT systems are designed to decrease backpressure and integrate with the factory ECU. Only heavily modified engines (boost, fueling, cams) might benefit from a tune.
The Extreme Header-Back (98Z150T) offers the most exhaust freedom and tends to deliver the loudest, rawest tone. The Street Race Single Exit (91Z152) is aggressive too, but typically a bit tamer than full header-back in terms of raw power.
Yes. All MRT 86 systems are built with DIY installation in mind. Use basic hand tools, follow the included instructions, and expect install times between 1 and 3 hours, depending on your experience and workspace.
Installing an MRT exhaust on your Toyota 86 does not void your car's warranty because it’s a simple install that requires very little, if any, modification.
The Sport Touring (91Z154) version emphasizes balance — a sportier tone but with daily usability — whereas the Street Race (91Z152) is louder under throttle, with more aggressive sound character.
