The engineers at MRT are excited about this handcrafted Sport Touring Midpipe designed specifically for the FL5 Honda Civic Type R. This resonator delete gives Honda enthusiasts a constant flow of unleashed Type R performance complemented with a sporty, aggressive exhaust sound that is slightly louder than stock while not disturbing the neighbors. This Midpipe design is meticulously engineered for those who not only desire to be seen but also heard, proclaiming their presence with every rev.

Upgrade Your FL5 Exhaust

If you're on a tight budget but still want more power and a bigger sound than the FL5 stock exhaust can offer, a Type R resonator delete provides it. The Sport Touring Midpipe deepens and refines your exhaust note while keeping your Type R cabin comfortable and free of drone. The larger tubing allows more exhaust flow that bumps up the power and efficiency, lending even more verve to your high-performance Civic. Also, this Type R exhaust retains the stock valves to further upgrade your driving experience.

When indulging in spirited drives, this MRT performance mid-pipe rewards you with a tantalizing symphony of crackles, pops and burbles, amplifying the thrill as you shift through the gears and commanding attention at every turn. It's handcrafted in corrosion-resistant 2.5-inch mandrel-bent T304 stainless steel to last the lifetime of your vehicle. Installation can be completed in an hour or less using the included hardware and standard mechanic's tools (you will need to remove the splash guard for access).

Other Civic Type R Exhaust Options

If you want to hear more turbo whistle, pops and crackling during deceleration and the distinctive aggressive sound of the high-performance FL5 engine, upgrade your stock Type R exhaust to the Honda Civic MRT Street Race Axle Back exhaust for a road-worthy, Get Noticed performance sound. It also has dual four-inch tips for added visual appeal. Note the axle back system is designed to fit the stock midpipe and cannot be combined with the Sport Touring resonator delete.

All MRT exhaust systems are engineered, designed and made in the U.S. More than 35 years of OE and automotive engineering experience go into every exhaust for Type R Honda Civics, matching the vehicle's DNA for a sound you won't get anywhere else. Call, email or use live chat if you have questions about this system or any other MRT products.

Hear the Difference

  • How does it sound? The MRT Sport Touring Midpipe gives a deeper refined note with added turbo noises versus a stock system.
  • Is there drone or resonance? The resonator delete has minimal drone at highway driving speeds or under load.
  • What if I step on it? Wide-open throttle brings out a livelier attitude with more exhaust sound, added bite and a deeper growl.

5 of 5 Sounds great! September 9, 2024

I was able to install this myself with a sawzall saw with the car on jackstands. Coupled with the fuse mod to have the exhaust valve open all the time, the sound is perfect. Louder than stock, no drone, kids in the back don’t complain. Hardest part was understanding the instructions where to make a cut at the tangent line. Would be easier if it said to cut this many centimeters or inches from some landmark point. If you want something real loud and aggressive then this is not for you. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the loudest with a straight pipe, I’d give it a 3. Been running it for a couple months and still enjoy it.

Install took 20min, and was pretty straight forward. I didn’t see the need to remove the pipe at the exhaust flange as in the install video. Undoing the rear exhaust hangers gave me enough flexibility. Fit up well and it feels nice and secure - no leaks.

Sound is a touch more aggressive on cold start. No drone at speed as far as I could tell. You notice a more throaty sound on hard acceleration and off-throttle deceleration. The difference isn’t other worldly, just a bit more sound.

You probably want to install this on a lift to make your life easier. Possible on the ground on jack stands - but not easy and not a lot of clearance.

Overall, I’m happy with this, but it is a bit pricey for what it is.
